
| Jonathan M. Adelson, M.D., FACR Physician, Rheumatology Dr. Adelson is the Medical Director of Arthritis and Pain Associates of P.G. County and the Osteoporosis Center of P.G. County. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both rheumatology and internal medicine. He is also an active Fellow Member of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR). He is also certified in Clinical Densitometry by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. Dr. Adelson graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan with his B.A. in Philosophy in 1972 and received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1977. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in 1980 and his fellowship in rheumatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1982. He is an active member of the D.C. Rheumatism Society, the Lupus Foundation of Greater Washington, the Maryland Lupus Foundation, Prince George's County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. He was rated as one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers’ Research Council of America for 2006 and 2007 in the specialty of rheumatology. |


| Donald E. Thomas, Jr., M.D., FACP, FACR, CCD Physician, Rheumatology Dr. Thomas has been part of our practice since June 1998. In addition to being a senior partner in our practice, he actively teaches subjects in rheumatology at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and has continued to serve as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD since 1995. He is an active member of the American Board of College of Physicians (FACP) and the American College of Rheumatology (FACR); and is board certified in rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also certified in Clinical Densitometry (CCD) by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. Having a special interest in lupus, Dr. Thomas also actively serves as a member of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board of the Lupus Foundation, DC/MD/VA chapter. In 1989, he received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in 1993 and his fellowship in rheumatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1995 after which he stayed on as a member of the teaching staff until he joined our practice in 1998. Dr. Thomas's awards include the AMA's Physician Recognition Award from 2000 to 2006, and then the AMA’s Physician Recognition Award with Commendation from 2007 to the present. He has been rated as one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers’ Research Council of America numerous times since 2004 in the specialty of rheumatology. He has received the “Patients' Choice Award” in 2008-2012 as well as “Most Compassionate Doctor” in 2011 by the American Registry in conjunction with Vitals.com. He was also recognized as one of Washington DC’s “Top Doctors” for rheumatology in 2010 and 2012 by Washingtonian Magazine. |
| Yevgeniy Sheyn, M.D., M.P.H., FACR, CCD Physician, Rheumatology Dr. Sheyn has been in our practice since 2004. Dr. Sheyn originally graduated from the Russian State Medical University in 1995, Magna Cum Laude and subsequently worked in Central institute of Hematology in Moscow. He graduated from Internal Medicine residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in NYC, NY; and finished his fellowship in rheumatology from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill in 2004. He also received Master of Public Health in Epidemiology degree from UNC School of Public Health. While he was at UNC, he actively participated in clinical research of rheumatologic diseases. He coauthored articles on treatment of Sjögren’s syndrome and steroid induced osteoporosis and co-wrote chapter on cardiac involvement in rheumatologic diseases in the renowned textbook of Netter's Cardiology. Dr. Sheyn has been particularly active in using ultrasound for diagnosis of rheumatic diseases as well as for ultrasond guided joint injections. He is also trained to perform Xiaflex injections for nonsurgical treatment of Dupuytren's contractures. Dr. Sheyn is board certified in rheumatology and clinical densitometry. He is a Fellow Member of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR), and an active member of the American Medical Association, Maryland State Medical Society, and International Society for Clinical Densitometry. Dr. Sheyn holds AMA's Physician Recognition Award with Commendation 2007 to the present. He is one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers' Research Council of America in the specialty of rheumatology, "Top Doctor" by US News and World Report and "Top Doctor" by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. |
| Maria Cuadra, PA-C Physician Assistant Maria is a Physician Assistant with a special interest and training in rheumatology. She graduated with her PA degree from the Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, CA, in 2007. She has also received special training in pain management and primary care, as well. She grew up locally in to Adelphi, MD, and has a strong interest in giving back to the community. She strives continuously to give first rate care to her patients. |
| Maria Julienne P. San Juan, R.N., B.S.N. (a.k.a. "ienne") Registered Nurse Ienne has worked with us since 2001. She worked first as a medical assistant for 3 years, and now as one of our Registered Nurses after receiving her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in May 2004 at University of MD at Baltimore, School of Nursing. She runs the infusion center at the office after launching its first opening in March 2009. Also, she currently works at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD at the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She is an active member of the American Nurses' Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Rheumatology Nurse’s Society. |
| Toni Proctor, R.N. Registered Nurse Toni has been an important part of our practice since 1988. She received her R.N. degree from Prince George's County Community College in 1979. She also works at Prince George's Hospital and is certified in Medical/Surgical nursing. |









| Rukmini Madhuri Konatalapalli, MD, FACR Dr. Konatalapalli earned medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India, in 2001. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Prince George’s Hospital Center in Maryland. Soon after, Dr. Konatalapalli joined Washington Hospital Center, D.C as a Research Fellow in Rheumatology and completed the Clinical Fellowship in Rheumatology and board certified in rheumatology and internal medicine. During her fellowship at Washington Hospital Center, Dr. Konatalapalli was involved in many research projects. She was the lead investigator in the study of Axial Gout, which was presented at the annual scientific meetings of American College of Rheumatology (ACR) in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., and published in the ‘Journal of Rheumatology’ (2009). Dr. Konatalapalli joined our practice in July 2011. Her areas of interest include systemic lupus and crystalline arthropathies. |




| Maria Chou, MD, FACR Physician, Rheumatology Dr Chou joined our practice in November 2012. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In 1999, she received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. She completed her training in internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL in 2002. She then moved to the DC area and completed her fellowship training at Georgetown University in 2004. During her fellowship, she participated in clinical research and presented her research at the American College of Rheumatology's national conference in San Antonio, Tx. Her work in the use of stress echocardiography in evaluation of Pulmonary Hypertension in patients with Scleroderma was later published in the scientific journal, Chest. Since her fellowship, she has been in private practice in Northern Virginia. She has been recognized as one of America's Top Physicians by Consumers' Research COuncil of America in 2009, 2010, and 2011. She also was named as one of Washignton DC's "Top Doctors" for Rheumatology in the Washingtonian Magazine in 2008 and 2010 and Northern Virginia Magazine in 2011. |
